What is Respite Care?

YMCA CRS Respite Program provides occasional child care breaks for families who have children with developmental disabilities. Parents may use their respite in a variety of ways including time to engage in leisure activities, time to spend one-on-one with spouse or other family members, time for running errands, keeping appointments, or just some free time to regenerate. YMCA CRS offers both In-Home and Out-of-Home Respite options.

Who is eligible for Respite?

Any family with a child who has a developmental disability or is at risk of a developmental disability and is a San Diego Regional Center consumer may be eligible for respite. YMCA CRS respite program serves all families referred by San Diego Regional Center who have children ages 0-18. All referrals to our department for respite services come directly from the Regional Center. Regional Center case managers will make the determination if you qualify for respite and how many hours per month of care you will be given. Ask your case manager about respite services!
