Assessing Immunization Records

  • Tune in to the County Television Network (CTN) to view Bears, Blocks and Blue Cards and get the information you need to comply with the law. Show times: Saturdays at 10 am (Cox 19 and Cox 24, TW 22, Adelphia 66).
  • Bears Blocks and Blue Cards are available in English or Spanish for check-out at many child care related organizations throughout San Diego. You can pick up a supply of "Blue Cards" to record immunizations for each child in your child care program (except those enrolled in school).
  • Contact the County of San Diego's Immunization Initiative, Community Education and Outreach Unit. Call 619.692.8247 or access the Immunization Initiative's website at www.immunization-sd.org to request materials or for assistance in facilitating a workshop.

Health & Safety Classes
Referrals to health & safety classes that meet the Licensing requirements of AB243. If you would like to schedule group training, request a list of EMSA approved training agencies that are certified to teach pediatric CPR, First Aid and Preventive Health Practices to child care providers.

HealthLine Health Services
Child Care Providers, teaching staff, and parents can bring health care issues to a Registered Nurse at the YMCA Childcare Resource Service by calling 1-800-908-8883 for a telephone consultation. We also provide staff, teacher skill enhancement workshops and parent education workshops that help with exclusion notices, health policies, immunizations, and other health topics.

Resource Library for Child Care, Education, Parents, and the Community
YMCA Childcare Resource Service has a resource library of books, videos, periodicals and topic files. Our agency also has a mobile van unit called “Resources In Motion” equipped with toys, and resources for providers. Call for information on how to apply for a library card and utilize the resources available at any of the three branches of the YMCA Childcare Resource Service: San Diego, Vista, and National City.
