Infant/Child CPR for Friends & Family
Palomar Pomerado Health System’s Health Concern offers a CPR & First Aid class for parents. The fee is $25 per person. Parents will learn how to relieve an obstructed airway and perform CPR on infants and children under eight years of age. Parents will also learn how to handle common childhood injuries and emergencies. This class does not include course participation card. Classes are ongoing.

Parent Participation Classes
New parents, older parents, and grandparents are all welcome to participate in classes for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their parents. Parenting information, support, activities, and socialization are all part of these free classes through the San Diego Community College Continuing Education Centers. Parenting Classes – Home Start, Inc.
A 10–week parenting class on child development, positive discipline, child abuse prevention, stress reduction, anger management, and self-esteem and community resources. Breastfeeding Your Baby
This 2½-hour class is offered by Scripps Health to help parents separate fact from fiction concerning nutrition, how–to basics, and preventing discomforts. Grandparents and your future child care provider will also benefit. Classes are countywide. A support group for breastfeeding mothers and their babies meets at the Well Being in La Jolla, 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM on Tuesdays.

Children’s Bereavement Support Groups

San Diego Parent University – Harold J. Ballard Parent Center
The Ballard Parent Center provides a variety of services and resources to parents of students from Title I eligible schools, to district staff and to community members and organizations. The San Diego Parent University allows parents to select academic classes to help support their children with homework, reading, writing, study skills and math. Classes are also offered in parenting skills, behavioral management and child development. Classes are held Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on a quarterly basis, October through June. Child care may be provided.

A Place of Our Own
TV for people who care for kids

KCET’s A Place of Our Own (and Los Niños en Su Casa in Spanish) is a daily television series, a website, and an extensive outreach program devoted to the unique needs of people who care for children. The series also responds to the needs and workplace realities of people who spend their days caring for children by including topics such as building partnerships with families, reducing stress, and completing paperwork. A Place of Our Own’s support for child care providers recognizes the importance of their roles in the way children learn and develop. By supporting these important people and providing them with the resources they need, we better help our children prepare for school.

Los Niños en Su Casa
TV para personas que cuidan niños

Los Niños en Su Casa de KCET (y A Place of Our Own en Inglés) es una serie de televisión diaria, un sitio en la red y un programa de alcance extensivo dedicado a las necesidades únicas de las personas que cuidan a niños. Las series también responden a las necesidades de la realidad en el lugar de trabajo de las personas que pasan sus días cuidando a los niños e incluye temas como la elaboración de sociedades con las familias, reducción de la tensión (estrés), y cómo terminar con el papeleo. Los Niños en Su Casa ayuda a los proveedores de cuidado infantil a reconocer la importancia de su influencia en la manera en que los niños aprenden y se desarrollan. Al apoyar a estas personas tan importantes y al darles los recursos que necesitan, mejoramos la ayuda para preparar a nuestros niños para la escuela.
