Preschool for All San Diego

What is Preschool for All?

Preschool for All (PFA) is an initiative designed to ensure that high quality, voluntary preschool is available to all children three to five years old, regardless of family income.

Why is PFA important?

Studies have shown the tremendous impact quality preschool programs have on a child’s success in kindergarten and later life. Currently, fewer than half of California’s preschool age children are enrolled in preschool. Many children who want to attend preschool are on long waiting lists. All children deserve the best education and should have the opportunity to participate in a quality preschool program. Preschool for All will make a difference.

How can I get involved?

A master plan is being created for Preschool for All in San Diego County. Task forces will be meeting to address potential barriers in implementing Preschool for All. The focus of the various task forces will be on issues and tasks such as standards, legislative reform, engaging families, marketing, professional development, evaluation, and aligning systems. To take part in the planning of Preschool for All in San Diego, please contact Julia Childs at 619.243.4482.
