Special Needs Unit (SNU) >Teens In Motion

Teens in Motion is an after school program designed to provide supervision and support to high school students with disabilities and special needs who have working parents. Teens in Motion provides after school activities that will encourage physical, emotional and social development. Students enrolled in the program participate in classroom activities such as art, cooking, games and computers as well as having opportunities to be included in school sponsored after school activities such as drama, sports and attending after school games. Parents may also use the Teens in Motion program to serve their respite needs.

Teens in Motion operates with a ratio of 1 adult for every 6 students and will attempt to included all interested applicants within the established rations.

Hours: Monday Through Friday from school dismissal (approximately 2pm)- 6PM

Where: Currently located at Clairemont high school and Valhalla High School

Fee: Applicants should qualify for Regional Center Child care or Regional Center Out-of-Home Respite. All other applicants will pay full cost of the program. Program offers a daily rate or a weekly rate option

Teens in Motion is dedicated to:

  • addressing the lack of child care facilities for high school students with disabilities and special needs
  • offering purposeful and meaningful after school activities for students with special needs and disabilities
  • enhancing the academic and social development of students with disabilities and special needs.
  • providing a more inclusive, richer high school experience for students with disabilities and special needs.
