Using the Library
Applying
for a library card
- To apply click here or come to our offices to apply
in person.
- The application will be processed and an ID number will be assigned.
- A library card will be issued at the time of your first visit. After
reading and signing your card, it will be laminated.

Making an appointment
- Contact the library message line at (619) 521-3055 ext. 2304 or 1(800)
481-2151 and let staff know when you plan to visit.
- The library at our San Diego office
is open Monday
Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and
Friday, 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
- The library at our Vista and National
City offices,
is open
Monday - Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and
is closed every Friday.
- If you have a topic to research, let us know when you call. We can
pull materials to get you started.
- If you need to cancel your visit, please let us know!

Checking out books and video
- A total of six items (books and videos) may be borrowed for thirty
days, as long as you continue to return materials on time.
- At your appointment, you will receive a computer print out that lists
materials borrowed and due date. This should be returned with your materials.
- You are responsible for all materials checked out on your card.

Returning materials
- Bring with you the computer print-out of borrowed materials.
- Materials may be dropped off at the front desk, but please wait while
receptionist checks items you are returning.
- If you would like to use the library when returning materials, please
call ahead to let us know when you are coming.
- Early return of items is always appreciated!
